The Next Chapter in Our Story: Distil Being Acquired by Imperva

Distil Networks was established eight years ago by our three co-founders Rami Essaid, Engin Aykol, and Andrew Stein, as the first bot management company to help protect customers from automated attacks. Since then a lot has happened with the advancement of automated attacks and the establishment of the bot management market space. Additionally, bot management is being seen as a larger component of web application security at large.

With that, today Distil takes the next phase in our adventure. I am excited to announce that we have agreed for Distil Networks to be acquired by Imperva. Joining forces with a company as passionate about cybersecurity as we are gets us very enthusiastic about the next chapter in our journey. The addition of Distil’s bot management solution will separate Imperva from the competition as we together become the recognized leader in WAF, DDoS, RASP and Bot Management.

Speaking about the deal, Olivier Thonnard, Senior Security Expert at Amadeus, said: "As a customer of both companies, Amadeus sees significant potential in the integration of their know-how and portfolios. Combining these two best-of-breed solutions should make them stronger, and I’m confident this move will be beneficial for Amadeus and our customers.”

We are excited that our team will have the opportunity to carry on our mission of protecting customers from automated attacks. As part of Imperva, Distil will benefit from delivering bot solutions to customers the way they want it, whether cloud, on-premises, or, most likely, both; and integrated into Imperva’s broader security platform. Additionally we’ll be able to leverage Imperva’s global network of sensors to identify zero-day bots and immediately protect all customers.

As an established leader in cybersecurity, Imperva already provides customers the most comprehensive, analyst-recognized application security solution on the market. Imperva is a five-time leader in Gartner’s 2018 Magic Quadrant for Web Application Firewalls (WAF). Imperva’s DDOS Protection automatically mitigates the largest attacks in less than three seconds, and is a leader in The Forrester Wave: DDoS Mitigation Solutions, Q4 2017. Imperva’s cutting-edge RASP solution sits within applications to secure them against all known and zero-day vulnerabilities. Imperva’s RASP is also a leader in The Forrester New Wave: Runtime Application Self-Protection (RASP), Q1 2018.

Together, with Distil as a Forrester leader in the New Wave: Bot Management, Q3 2019, Imperva will offer a uniquely differentiated single-stack solution for providing security and protecting your business. With this capability, you can expect fast deployment, accurate detection with no added latency, extremely low false positives, and visibility, management, and analytics providing a holistic view across all attack vectors targeting the application.

I could not be more excited about the next chapter for Distil as part of the Imperva family. To learn more about the Distil acquisition, read the press release. And to read about Imperva’s full Application Security platform, visit
