Over half (53.1%) the traffic on gambling and gaming websites comes from bad bots. Only 46.8% of traffic on these websites was human.
What are these bad bots doing on gambling sites? Aggregators relentlessly scrape online gambling companies for the ever-changing betting lines they offer. Such aggressive activity causes denial of service problems and sends customers elsewhere.
Account takeovers are also a major problem. Each account contains money or loyalty points that, once compromised, can easily be transferred to another user and emptied.
But when we look at the sophistication level of these bad bots, only 12.21% of them would be classified as sophisticated. Almost three quarters (74.4%) are classified as moderate while the remaining 13.4% were simple bots.
