October 22, 2015

Some $18.5 Billion Will Be Lost To Ad Fraud In 2015

As digital spend continues to reach landmark highs -- it hit $27.5 billion for the first half of 2015 – so does ad fraud, which is now estimated to cost the industry about $18.5 billion annually, according to a report released Thursday by Distil Networks in collaboration with the Interactive Advertising Bureau.

That means for every $3 spent, $1 is going to ad fraud.

The news comes just one day after the IAB released its Internet Advertising Report, which showcased record spend in digital advertising.

Mobile, for example, now accounts for 30% of all revenue generated by digital advertising, the IAB said.

And mobile is also getting its share of ad fraud.
